Grab a Pig Card Game Launches In Suffolk On a Thames Barge
Suffolk based game inventors; Prospecting In Gold (PIG) celebrated the launch of their new family card game Grab a Pig in style on board the Thistle, Thames Barge.
Toy Retailers from across the County joined them for an evening sail and the opportunity to be the first shop owners in Suffolk to play the newly developed game.
The Grab a Pig card game has taken 3 years to reach its launch date from conception and the event signaled the next stage in the lifecycle of the product.
Colin Wiffen, Director of PIG explained “Grab A Pig in its raw state has been played in our family for the past three years. Seeing it tonight as a finished product, knowing that we have orders already placed for the games to appear in local shops really is a significant step for us.”
Roxanne Downes, Purchasing Controller for ToyMaster Kingdom officially launched the game. “The toy industry in general” she said “is dominated by a few main manufacturers and suppliers. A key strength of ToyMaster Kingdom is its independence, we are able to react to customer requirements and relate more closely to their needs. To achieve this we need to work with small game and toy manufacturers. Tonight, we can see how independent businesses and game designers can work together to provide our customers with choice.”
Prospecting In Gold have also demonstrated how small businesses can achieve great things. They have commissioned marketing and design services, print and copywriting from Suffolk based firms, none of whom have more than 10 staff.
Portia the Pig is the key farm yard character in the game and her creator, Steve Warner of ASA Communicate, joined the launch party “I am proud to have been involved in the creation of Portia and her friends” said Steve “it is incredible how addictive the game actually is – this is the first time I have played the game with all the component parts together in one place – it really is so much fun”
